I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Classics and Philosophy, University of Cyprus. Before coming to the University of Cyprus, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (2019-2020) under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Gungov, and, before that I was a Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Philosophy, University College Dublin (2016-2017) under the supervision of Prof. Dermot Moran. I also taught philosophy at the University of Sussex (2011-2016).
I earned my PhD in Philosophy from the University of Sussex (2015) under the supervision of Prof. Tanja Staehler. My thesis was entitled The Emergence of Mood in Heidegger’s Phenomenology, examined by Prof. Daniel O. Dahlstrom and Dr Mahon O’Brien. During my PhD, I was awarded a DAAD research grant and conducted research at Freie Universität Berlin (2011-2013), under the supervision of Prof. Hilge Landweer. I obtained an MA in Continental Philosophy from Warwick University and wrote my thesis on Nietzsche’s aesthetics under the supervision of Prof. Keith Ansell-Pearson.
I was born and raised in Nicosia, Cyprus. I have lived and worked in the USA, the UK, Germany and Ireland, before returning to Cyprus at the end of 2017. I am married to Irene who is an anaesthetist-intensivist and we have two children.
I am an active member of the antiracist and antifascist movement. I also co-host a radio program on Radio Astra on socio-political current affairs. I enjoy hiking and skiing. This year, I hope to resume my classical guitar training.
